Music to My Ears : Protecting My Ears from Hearing Loss

Programme Synopsis

We are exposed to noise in one way or another in many of our daily activities and from our surroundings. Listening to music, watching Netflix, or simply eating at a noisy food court subject us to noise. Over time, extended exposure to noise may contribute to the gradual degeneration of hearing. This talk is about how you can learn to take care and prevent hearing loss.

About the Speaker

Dr Gary Lee is Head of Audiology at Jurong Health Campus, comprising Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre. Dr Lee completed his Doctor of Audiology with University of Florida and Masters of Clinical Audiology from University of Melbourne. 

Dr Lee specialises in adult hearing rehabilitation, hearing aids and tinnitus management. In 2016, he received advanced audiology training in the management of tinnitus, hyperacusis and misophonia.
Professionally, Dr Lee was involved in the training and development of the Industrial Audiometry Course accredited with Workplace Safety and Health and had provided consultancy to workplaces in the area of industrial noise and hearing conservation. His research interests include Noise-Induced Hearing Loss. Auditory Training for Adults, Signal Processing Strategies In Hearing Devices, and Digital Noise Reduction in Cochlear Implants which he researched on at the Bionic Ear Institute in Australia.
 
Dr Gary Lee currently sits on the MOH Allied Health panel in Audiology and was President of the Society of Audiology Professionals (Singapore).
