World Heart Day - Poster Exhibition

World Heart Day aims to increase public awareness and promote preventive measures to reduce the global incidence of cardiovascular disease.  Cardiovascular disease, such as heart disease and stroke, is the world’s number one killer today. In 2018, cardiovascular disease accounted for 29.2% of all deaths in Singapore.
The following are some causes of cardiovascular disease:

  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes Mellitus
  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Lack of exercise
  • Stress

These risks can be managed. It is never too late to start adopting heart-healthy practices for a healthier heart.
The following are
some heart-healthy practices:

  • Cooking and eating more healthily
  • Exercising more and keeping active
  • Saying no to smoking
  • Weight management
  • Stress management

We can make changes in our lives and have a healthy lifestyle. With a healthier lifestyle, we can guard ourselves against cardiovascular disease.

To commemorate the World Heart Day, ITE students from 3 colleges who are the recipients of the Chip Eng Seng Study Grant had designed and created posters to share with their peers on the importance of keeping our hearts healthy. Out of more than 60 posters designed, 18 were selected.  The posters were selected based on the message and originality. Do take some time to view them in support of their efforts.
