"One Less Straw" Campaign Exhibition

The last time when you ordered a drink; I'm sure it came with a plastic straw? The plastic straw will be discarded after used.

Yes, single-use plastic straw is very convenient.  However, when it is discarded indiscriminately into the ocean, such convenience can bring harmful effects to marine animals.  Marine animals have mistaken plastic straw for food. Could you imagine what will happen to the marine animals with the plastic straws in their stomach?

In 2015, a 10.6 m long sperm whale was found dead and floating off Jurong Island. After dissection, it was discovered the poor whale's gut was filled with plastic cups and wrappers! Our daily activities which involve the use of plastic not only pollutes the ocean but also harms the sea creatures who do not know plastic is not their food.

This exhibition put up by the students from ITE CC Eco Club hopes to encourage everyone to stop using straws. An accompanying poster from the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (LKCNHM) will also be on display.

Join us in the campaign to ditch the use of straws. Say no to straws and plastic from now on!
