Inheritance of Chinese Opera - A Photo Exhibition

This photo exhibition featuring one of the oldest dramatic art forms in the world – Chinese Opera – is a 5-month labour of love, grit, and perseverance by the students and staff from Digital Audio Visual Production (DAVP) department, College West.

This is a collaborative project done with Dr Chua Ee Kiam, a renowned author and photographer, and Ms Choo Mui Eng, an opera enthusiast, both of whom mentored the students throughout the process and opened their eyes to the spectacular world of Chinese Opera.

Don’t miss these visually stunning photos of the Cantonese, Teochew, and Hokkien operas taken at various venues, from Kreta Ayer People’s Theatre to Chinese Theatre Circle. Check out to the rare backstage images of the performers and the breathtaking acrobatic, romance, and emotional scenes on stage as seen through the lens of the students and staff.

Let the tradition of this beautiful art form continue to be passed on, and hopefully you will be drawn into the mesmerising world of Chinese Opera!
