Inheritance of Chinese Opera

A Photo Exhibition

ITE College West’s Digital and Audio Video Production (DAV) presents: Inheritance of Chinese Opera - A Photo Exhibition

This photo exhibition features one of the oldest dramatic art forms in the world – Chinese Opera – which is a 5-month labour of love, grit, and perseverance put up by the students and staff from DAV. This is a collaborative project done with Dr Chua Ee Kiam, a renowned author and photographer, and Ms Choo Mui Eng, an opera enthusiast, both of whom mentored the students throughout the process and opened their eyes to the spectacular world of Chinese Opera.

Don’t miss these visually stunning photos of the Cantonese, Teochew, and Hokkien operas taken at various venues, from Kreta Ayer People’s Theatre to Chinese Theatre Circle. Check out those rare backstage images of the performers and their breathtaking acrobatic, romance, and emotional scenes and moments on stage as seen through the lens of the students and staff.

Let the traditions of this beautiful art form continue to be passed on, and we hope through this exhibition, more young people will be drawn to the mesmerising world of Chinese Opera!

Event date :    Fri 2 Feb to Mon 30 Apr 2018
